History of Spotmix Concrete
 Spotmix
Concrete Ltd is the product of the amalgamation of two independent
companies working at almost opposite ends of the United Kingdom
with Spotmix Concrete operating in the Heathrow Area and Macmix
in the Central Belt of Scotland.
The catalyst for the new company was the
Reimer Mobile Batching Plant with both companies discovering
this was the best unit to produce volumetric batched concrete
to a high degree of accuracy.
Spotmix Concrete had over 20 years of experience
in producing volumetric batched concrete and Macmix 10 years
with another 10 years in the ready mix industry.
This
extensive experience allied to the Reimer unit has enabled
the company to grow from 3 units to, at present 20 mobile
units, with further plans to grow this. Spotmix Concrete Ltd
is now operating out of four sites across the U.K.
 Concrete Design & Mixes
The concrete design or mix depends on the end use with rich
mixes being used for flooring where foundations tend to need
lower grade concrete.
Site preparation
- Generally, you would dig out the earth to x2 the depth
required, compact the earth base and level. (e.g. if 150mm
concrete is required then trench needs to be 300mm deep).
- Pour hard core to half the depth of found and again compact
it to give level surface and good key for the concrete.
- Lay a damp proof membrane (usually polythene sheet) over
hard core.
- Barrow concrete, or pour direct from mixer auger chutes,
into ready prepared founds to the required depth and float
off to give a level finish.
Payment Payment can be made by cash, cheque, credit and debit cards
or by credit account for trade customers or contractors.
   
Health & Safety
Concrete is alkaline and can cause irritation and burns
to the skin hence the need for protective equipment e.g.
long sleeved shirts, trousers (not shorts), Wellington boots
and gloves. Eye protectors should be worn in case of splashing.
